August to October

April to July

October to March

The monsoon season in Agra begins in August, which is a perfect time to see the Taj Mahal in all of its rain-washed glory. Take a cup of tea from a nearby tea vendor while riding a bike rickshaw around the neighborhood bazaars. Never let the rain stop you from traveling; just make sure you have an umbrella or raincoat with you.

This is the start of the summer, and despite the rising heat, the time is ideal since the crowds are starting to thin out and there are great hotel offers to be had. Bring some lightweight cotton clothing, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a water bottle, and take your time seeing Agra's sites.

The greatest season to visit Agra is between fall and winter, when the weather is nice and ideal for touring and the heat has subsided. You may enjoy an entire day by strolling in the complex and taking the grandeur of this majestic structure. Practice your negotiating abilities as you browse the numerous bazaars in Agra while purchasing gifts and mementos. Pick a rooftop eatery where you may sip coffee while taking in views of the Taj Mahal. You are advised to carry woolen clothes. Provided you're visiting Agra in December or January since temperatures might fall as low as 2 degrees Celsius.

Attractions inside the Fort

  • Jahangir Mahal

It served as the primary zenana palace, or residence for ladies of the royal family, and was mostly occupied by Akbar's Rajput wives. An impressive entranceway opens to a courtyard within that is flanked by magnificent rooms with elaborate stone carvings, brackets, piers, and crossbeams.

  • Khas Mahal

The mature Mughal architecture may be seen at the Khas Mahal enclosure, which was constructed by Shahjahan. Women's housing is located on three sides of this garden. The royal hammam (bath) or Sheesh Mahal (mirror palace) is embellished with many glass ornaments and a focal fountain.

  • Musamman Burj

The most romantic and ornate pavilion in the Agra fort is where two incredibly attractive and strong Mughal queens, Mumtaz Mahal and Nurjahan (Jahangir's and Shah Jahan's respective main queens), resided. The pietra dura (stone inlay work) ornamentation is of amazing and flawless craftsmanship.

  • Diwan-I-Khas

It is a little hall with two marble columns that have pietra dura decorations inlaid into them. Here, the Mughal emperor hosted distinguished visitors or representatives from other countries. The expansive courtyard of Machchi Bhawan, used for harem events, is located below this terrace. A modest mosque that Aurangzeb constructed for Shahjahan is visible on the other side.

  • Diwan-I-Aam

White lime has been polished to a beautiful gloss and used to cover the arches. The elaborate pietra dura decoration on the triple-arched royal canopy is striking. The renowned Peacock Throne that Shahjahan had ordered was stored here. The Moti Masjid (pearl mosque) is located further north, with its three white marble domes protruding above a red sandstone façade. The Moti Masjid is renowned for its absolute magnificence and ideal proportions.
