Itinerary

Nestling in the arms of the Aravalli Hills located within the Alwar District of Rajasthan, is the famous Sariska Tiger Reserve. The Reserve boasts of a varying terrain, comprising of dry deciduous forests, grasslands, rocky landscapes, scrub-thorn arid forests and sheer cliffs. Considering, that, the Park covers almost 870 square kilometres, you may well imagine the biodiversity of the place. The magnificent Bengal tiger, of course, occupies pride of place. The species has adjusted well to its surroundings and is growing in number. Other wildlife includes diverse types of carnivores and herbivores. The Reserve is also home to a variety of birds.

Since you are in the region, anyway, it would be good to make time for a visit to Alwar City. The place is not too far from Sariska National Park. The charm of the City lies in its historic past, temples, a fort on top of a hill, palace, gardens, etc. The City had been founded in 1771 by Rao Pratap Singhji of Macheri. Find a good guide and go down memory lane with him. Another way to explore history is by visiting ruins. There are some temples dating back to the 10th and 11th centuries within the Tiger Reserve itself. Then again, there is a lovely castle standing atop a hill at Kankwari. It should be interesting to examine 17th century architecture. If you stand on the hill, you will be able to observe the flights of eagles and vultures, as well as the beautiful countryside.

The crocodiles residing in the Siliserh Lake do not mind tourists picnicking near their home or taking joy in sailing and boating. The lake is quite close to the Tiger Reserve. There is a palace in the vicinity too. Both, the palace and the lake were a gift from a past Maharajah to his wife.
